The differences.

Some things I'm getting used to..... Women cannot make eye contact with guys on the street or out and about. If we make eye contact then they will automatically think that we are "coming on to them." It's hard coming from the south where you have to say hello and make eye contact when talking to someone or you're considered rude....and here you can't make eye contact at all. I'm constantly having to remind myself..."shoulders, shoulders, look at their shoulders, not the eyes." That's taking some getting used to, but the Lord is good and he is helping me everyday adjust to the cultural differences.

There are a million things that are different about this place!

Dryers don't exist here (unless you have lots of money!)
We hang dry everything.
Dr. Pepper is extremely hard to come by, so I have acquired an addiction to orange soda (Fanta).
My Korean 2nd graders know more Arabic than me! Turkish coffee is not that bad.
Air conditioners are rare in peoples houses.
Everyone leaves the windows and blinds open and depend on fans. (There is no humidity!!! :)The sunsets are gorgeous.
Jordanian woman are gorgeous!
The Arabs here are more fashion conscious than we are in Texas.
You're not supposed to flush the toilet paper down the toilet. You have to put it in the trash can.
Traffic laws do not exist here, it's kinda scary...but it works.
Every single building here is the exact same white cement color. Which you might think would be boring, but is actually quite beautiful. When the sun is setting it casts a pink glow on all the white buildings.
